McCain has a trainload of legitimate reasons to not be voted for - teef ain't one of them.

It's the creepy way he tried to smile without really wanting to . . . obviously some handler told him he should smile more but it's NOT working!!  He should never ever smile, & not just because of his teeth!

Tooth color will definitely not guide my vote for Obama in November, but image is very important in a campaign.  Yellow teeth can make someone look less attractive and older.  That's not what McCain needs when he's running against Obama.  It's a stupid detail, but it's part of campaigning.

BTW, I really don't think it's gross - I would guess it's just the cumulative effect of 10,000 cups of coffee.

This is merely comment worthy at best.  Front page, not so sure.  This is something I had already thought to myself...

Redstate has posted an image of Obama ejaculating roses on their front page multiple times now (Obama Derangement Syndrome is just around the corner).

On one hand Kos is right that this sort of imagery does have an impact at the subconscious level and that whiter teeth will score better with the electorate.

Still, I would like dailykos to maintain high standards.  As one of the flagship progressive online communities it can go a long way to legitimize internet-based journalism and commentary.  Maybe one day my conservative family won't continually dismiss relevant facts with "you read those crazy online blogs that blow stuff way out of proportion.; just the other day they were harping on McCain's teeth. Real serious stuff you're reading there."

What the other side did to Al Gore was paint him has pandering and soft - wasn't even wearing his own clothes...whatever.  But it worked.

With the case of McCain's disgusting teeth, what will probably happen (cause this is politics), is that he WILL get them whitened.

Then we pounce.

"See, he can't be himself.  He flip-flops.

Hell, he got his teeth whitened because he thinks that's what people want.  He's weak."

We don't have to be them, or be like them.  We have to play the game of politics better than they do.

Some teeth are just that color naturally. No amount of whitening seems to make much difference.

And it isn't that big a deal, really.  Somehow, the tooth-whitening companies have seduced us into believing it is.  (Hmmm, wonder why...)
